 Wow, what a day. I heard the talk that Rob Estes had quit "90210" last night. I shot an email to my CW rep and he replied very quickly. He asked me if I would wait to post until they prepared an official statement. I agreed, because I can't publish the story without confirmation.  I thought this was an important article to write and with a different style that I usually use with "Jersey Shore" articles. Snooki has definitely caused some very infamous headlines during her tenure on the show, but this message is one I think needed to get out. Lots of teen girls suffer through the harsh world of high school and then project all those awful judgments from classmates upon themselves.  I thought this episode had all of what we love about "Brothers & Sisters": Misunderstandings, miscommunication, gossip and a raucous family meal. Centrally, Sarah's new relationship with a handsome single dad was the main through line and I was surprised to see she could overlook his political leanings.  I thought this was a good episode. It was touching and fun, crazy at times. I agree with some viewers that "Desperate Housewives" is recycling its characters storylines with a tweak here and there, but also, I just think people who comment on articles are predisposed to being overly critical.  The "Real Housewives" franchise is a winner for Bravo. Why wouldn't they expand as much as they can? Casting Paris Hilton's aunts in the "Beverly Hills" spin-off is genius.  So, this article took me forever. 1) it was assigned to me yesterday and I still hadn't watched the second episode of "The Bachelor," 2) I had to stop watching the show to write and post the "Ugly Betty" recap, and, 3) I was assigned the Snooki/Lautner piece a half hour before the conference call. So, as soon as I got off the call, I had to write this story, transcribe the interview, write it, then post it. Long day. The title cracks me up, though. That's a plus.  Oh, it has been a bumpy road for "Ugly Betty" this season and the characters aren't having the greatest time either. It's really sad that people aren't paying attention to 'Betty' right now, especially after watching an episode as well-written as last night's.  Bravo has definitely been great at pumping up the conflict between the ladies on its "Real Housewives" franchise. The latest relationship to be showing some cracks?  Fantasia Barrino was my fave in the third season of "American Idol" and I was thrilled she won. It seemed, though, that she had really not done well after the win. I'm not sure that's a true perception, because definitely she has done some amazing stuff: Starred on Broadway, released a good album or two, acted in a movie based on her. Apparently all that got overshadowed by a lot of negative press. She's hoping this show can clear up the misconceptions. I'm hoping she's right. Check out the article at Zap2it.  I actually feel bad for Tamra. I really liked her the first season or so that she was on "Real Housewives," but then Gretchen came along. I felt like jealousy reared its ugly head and she had it in for the girl from then on. And while I may have been hard on her in this article, this season I started feeling bad for her again.  This episode lived up to the trashtasticness of all the others. "The Grenade" is back and she's ready to blow. Too bad Snooki got in her way. Ronnie and Sammi were dramalicious. I'm not sure, but it looks like the finale is next week. Sadness. Rumors went around today that the show had been renewed. Turned out it was Vinny bragging to some girls. It was way too gossipy for me to run with and I didn't get confirmation from an MTV rep that it was official. I don't doubt it'll get another season, though.  I was really shocked to see Katharine McPhee was not only blond now, but she was blond for her album cover, as well. I'm not a fan of the new look. I'm also not a fan of messing with a brand that people already know. These "American Idol" alumni need to look at Kelly Clarkson's career and take note.  I was so excited to not only watch, but recap "Ugly Betty" this week in its first night as part of ABC's Wednesday night comedy block. I'm so glad that it is getting another chance to recapture an audience. I think if people watch, they'll see that the show rocks. Overnight numbers showed that it didn't do well, though it beat "Eastwick's" finale ratings by 60%. I'm hoping the ratings continue to grow over the next couple weeks. My TV writer friends think I'm nuts for holding out hope, but I don't care. The show is great and deserves to be around. Check out my recap at Zap2it.  Zap2it has a feature where they play off the concept of the twelve-step program and apply it to struggling shows. I'm really proud of this project, since I worked very hard to find the things I enjoyed about "Ugly Betty" that may not have survived to the present season.  When I saw these videos, I thought they were hilarious. Back when I was writing "10 things you should know about Snooki," I was looking for the secret behind her hair poof. Well, this answered my question. I wish I had it then. I totally thought a bumpit would be involved. Leave it to Snooks to be able to achieve the bump without any additional help.
