'Kell on Earth': Bravo releases rough first look video, bleeps not included

This video couldn't be any more rad. It's a rough clip from Kelly Cutrone's new show on Bravo, "Kell on Earth." Beware, Kelly's F-bombs are not edited out. When I posted the item, I wasn't sure if it was a PR tactic from the network or not. Now, I know it was an early release for a small group of journalists and I was obviously not one of them. Entertainment reporting can put you in some sticky positions!

'Twilight's' Taylor Lautner and Kellan Lutz RSVP for People's Choice

Needless to say, anything 'Twilight' related is newsworthy. When I saw that Taylor Lautner and Kellan Lutz have confirmed they're attending the People's Choice Awards, I knew that it would be a good post. Now, the questions stands: Will RPatz be there, too? That could be ratings gold for the award show's broadcast.

The 'Jersey Shore' cast gets a Hollywood polish

We got this press release from Life & Style magazine and we thought it was hilarious. The magazine set up the "Jersey Shore" cast with a red carpet event at some high end NYC nightclub. Of course, they couldn't go in their usual crap, so Life & Style dressed them in the style of popular celebrities. Do you think the "Jersey Shore" cast is in on the joke?

'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia': The Green Man's latest caper!
I don't regularly watch this show, but I have friends who are diehards about it. I was just looking around the web when I saw this video of The Green Man at a hockey game. It was hilarious. It was only after I thought it was funny when I found out that The Green Man was made popular on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." So, I had to pitch it to my editors.

MTV's People of the Year: Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga

When I saw MTV's choice for man and woman of the year, I wasn't surprised at all. I'm being sincere, though, when I say that I believe they both deserve it. I think what really sold me was the video packages MTV put together to present their choices. I thought they were damn good.

NJ steps up war on 'Jersey Shore': Cast's boss Danny caught in crossfire

I'm still shocked that some New Jersey legislators are using taxpayer money and time fighting a reality show. Besides that, I got pretty angry after I saw the first comment on the post. It really had nothing to do with the story. It basically made fun of my name and intelligence for writing the article in the first place. So low. No matter how long you do this, folks, there's still a sting when readers get personal.

10 most trashtastic reality TV moments of '09

This is my contribution the those "best of TV" lists. Quite honestly, once you've seen one, it seems like you've seen them all. Those lists always come off so refined, with its author giving off the most obnoxious reasons for liking what I call the "sacred cows" of TV. I won't call anyone out, but all you need to do is cross-reference some of the major TV writers' list and it feels like they each wrote them on a conference call with each other. Here's my trashy version of that list; full of scenes that really permeated popular culture. Enjoy!

Zap2it Exclusive: 'The Sing-Off' champs Nota on bringing crazy to a capella

In my need to be the first person to post a news article, I was definitely anxious waiting for my interview with "The Sing-Off" champs, Nota. I was told that I would be interviewing them in the morning. Of course, I was never told that the guys were rehearsing for an appearance on "The Jay Leno Show" tonight and that I wouldn't be speaking with them until almost 5pm! Oh, what I could have done with my life.

The good news is that I'm not the only one that was waiting and I'm the first to post my interview! Yay!

'The Sing-Off' finale: The 'B' boys win it

In the last episode of NBC's four-day singing competition, the groups seemed to have a new relaxed feel in their performances. Of course, the votes are all in!

This was the second reality competition I've covered. The last one, "America's Next Top Model," taught me a lot about what people consider spoilers. So, I decided to write the most cryptic headline possible. No one, except maybe the Voices of Lee fans, can tell me that I ruined the results for them. Ah, lessons learned.

'Real Housewives of Atlanta': NeNe says she's not fired

For weeks, rumors have swirled that NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak were fired from "Real Housewives of Atlanta." I was shocked to see that none of the other media outlets picked up on it.

'Saturday Night Live': America, it's your girl, 'Snooki'

It has been a long time since "SNL" has been able to keep me watching past the first two skits. Last night, they did. I think it had a lot to do with James Franco. He was pretty hilarious and I can understand his appeal now. If I didn't continue watching, I would have missed Bobby Moynihan's excellent impression of Snooki from "Jersey Shore." I had to write it up.

Snook's looks: What not to wear outside the 'Jersey Shore'

This was another fun article to write. It stems off the news that Snooki had been fired from her job as a receptionist when she wanted time off for press in L.A. Then, I found out that she got an agent and charges $2,000 for appearances. On Twitter, I started bantering back and forth with someone about her employment options, then it came up that a fashion line (as other MTV stars like Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, and even Heidi Pratt have done) would be a hilarious option for her. I pitched it and they wanted it.

'Jersey Shore': House can make you do dirty things

This show was jam-packed with delicious tacky drama, plus it was the first chance for viewers to see how MTV handled the Snooki punch. They pretty much did exactly as I thought they would: go to black. The thing is most fans have already seen the punch in MTV promos and teasers and, of course, it's all over the internet. I only got one comment on this recap, which makes me believe the "Jersey Shore" hype has died down. I guess we'll see after next week's episode.

RuPaul as Sarah Palin: 5 ways she wouldn't 'drag' the party down
I was soooooo excited to do this story. 1) I'm a big fan of RuPaul and of "RuPaul's Drag Race" on Logo, and 2) I got to make fun of Sarah Palin. The second reason is always a plus. The 'Sing-Off': Nota gets sledgehammered while the 'Bubs' are sweet
Nota, the Puerto Rican group competing in "The Sing-Off," had a curve ball thrown at them during the "judges' request" round. Many fans thought it was unfair. On the other hand, one of my fave groups (though I was sure they wouldn't win) MAXX Factor, had to deal with the fact that America doesn't quite get barber shop anymore.

'The Sing-Off': Voices of Lee get second chance and MAXX Factor learns new tricks
On the second night of "The Sing-Off," I was interested to see that Voices of Lee stepped up their game. In the first night, I trashed their performance for being controlled and boring. This time around it seemed they had picked up on what it took to compete in this competition. MAXX Factor, the quartet of moms, also seemed to have realized that they have to adapt their styles in order to move on.

'America's Next Top Model': Vogue's Andre Leon Talley takes fourth judging spot
Back in November, rumors began swirling about big changes on the judging panel at "Top Model." 'The Sing-Off' premiere: All the drama of 'Glee' (and then some)
This was my first recap of NBC's four-day series, "The Sing-Off." My editor literally emailed me minutes before the show started to ask me to write it. I was just finishing another article at the time, so I didn't get around to it until the show had already finished. Needless to say, I stayed up very late to watch the two-hour show, then write the recap. All a part of the hustle that is freelance writing.

The SoCals: Reppin' L.A. in NBC's 'The Sing-Off'

I was really excited to make this interview happen. 1) Because I'm a USC grad and this group stems from their a capella grop, The SoCal Vocals, and 2) I was really appreciative that my relationships continue to generate access for me to interviews like this.

I spoke with The SoCals' bass singer Ryan Alvarez while the group were on their lunch break. That was very nice of him, since it sounds like the shooting schedule for the show is intense. He's not a star who has benefited from a ton of media training, so at times he was unsure how to answer my questions and had to speak to the rep for assurance. After interviewing a lot of celebrities who deliver canned answers to questions, I found the interview endearing.

'Jersey Shore': MTV pulls Snooki punch, blames viral video
I came home from dinner last night and saw that MTV had decided to pull the scene of "Jersey Shore's" Snooki from the next episode. I emailed it to my Zap2it editors, but didn't hear back from them until this morning. They wanted me to write it up, so I had to come up with some way to make it feel new, since it was reported the night before. After reading MTV's statement, I found my angle: Who's really responsible for exploiting the violent scene?

Here's another reason to join Twitter. I'm literally just reading through tweets when I come across a comment about Scott Patterson joining "90210." 'Jersey Shore': From sweetheart to trash bag overnight
This was supposed to be my first post with Zap2it. It's the first assignment I received after my meeting at their offices. I had already done countless recaps for LATimes.com, but I was still scared about doing a great job on this one for "Jersey Shore."

At the L.A. Times, my recaps aren't due until the next morning, At Zap2it, they expect them in the same evening the show airs. That's fast! Additionally, they expect it to be clean and require very little (or no) copy editing. This was definitely a challenge. I think I did a good job and my editors were pretty happy with it. If they continue to give me more, I think I'll figure out a groove.

Zap2it Exclusive: 'The Sing-Off' NBC's remedy for the 'Glee' blues
If you're a freelance writer, you need to get on Twitter. Not only did I get a coveted interview with Kelly Cutrone on Twitter, but now I have a great new gig: Writing for Zap2it!

I'm not sure how Zap2it's editorial director found me, but he started following me. We soon began bantering back and forth. Before I knew it, I had a meeting at the Zap2it's offices to discuss freelancing for them. This is my first post with them and it came out of another relationship I had made with Jessica Stroup's PR person when I interviewed Stroup (who plays Silver on "90210"). I ended up getting an exclusive for Zap2it from NBC's new show, "The Sing-Off."

'Top Chef: Las Vegas': Michael Voltaggio on his win, talking trash and why the viewers turned on him
I was sitting around drinking my morning coffee when my editor IM'd me. She was supposed to interview the newest "Top Chef" winner Michael Voltaggio. The problem was she also had to be on-set for a story. She asked me if I would do the interview. Of course, I jumped at it. She sent me her questions and what she had written for an introduction. My conversation with Voltaggio was really relaxed. He was very open and frank, which always makes for a good interview.

Then, my editor emailed me. Turned out she had only sent my half the questions. I freaked out for a while that I may not have done a very thorough interview.

The good thing is I'm a great talker. I revised the introduction to reflect the actual interview that I conducted. After a day to think about it, I now believe the interview was actually really good.

Check out my interview with Michael Voltaggio at LATimes.com.

Exclusive: Behind-the-scenes on tonight's episode of 'The Nostradamus Effect'
I wrote and produced tonight's episode of "The Nostradamus Effect" titled "The Armageddon Battle Plan."

This is a great episode for exploring the background and controversies of the Dead Sea Scrolls. I don't believe in end-world prophecy, but I'm proud of the good information you'll find in this episode.

I'm also proud of the imagery in this show. It's gorgeous.

'90210': When school freezes over
After last week's writing nightmare, this week's winter fantasy was a breath of fresh air. Really good writing (except for Liam's tarp reveal) and some of the best acting I've seen this season. A standout for me was Michael Steger as Navid. I thought he looked awesome in his polkadot bow tie and suspenders at the formal and he was just really engaging. Good moments for Jessica Lowndes as Adrianna and Lori Loughlin as Debbie, too. I also got the 411 on when "90210" will be returning with new episodes and one of the actors has finally joined Twitter!

'Kell on Earth' Exclusive: Kelly Cutrone on her new Bravo show and what it means for 'The City'
Earlier this week, Bravo announced that “Kell on Earth,” a new reality series featuring “The City’s” fashion maven, Kelly Cutrone, will premiere on February 1st at 10pm.

“Kell on Earth” promises to give viewers an inside look at the off-beat and competitive world of high fashion as Cutrone and her band of “a couple gay guys and a bunch of power girls,” as Cutrone describes them to me, take on the daily challenges at her PR company, People’s Revolution.

I was the first reporter to speak with Cutrone after the announcement in-between takes on her Bravo photo shoot, but we were only able to speak for a few minutes. I didn't want this to disappear into the ether, so I'm blogging it here.

Cutrone says that the show will take us past work and show us a different side to the brutal (but motherly) boss lady we’re used to. We’ll actually get to see her life at home with her young daughter, Ava, and all the eccentricities Cutrone brings to that world.

The next morning, Cutrone called me to apologize for our short conversation. She also confirmed that “The City” will be returning for another season. In addition, Cutrone told me that her Bravo contract does allow her to continue shooting “The City, ” so she will be back next season. Yay!

Whitney Port on the girl drama, the guy rumors and what it takes to survive 'The City'

I can't tell you how excited I was to get an interview with Whitney Port. That gave way to panic, though, when my MTV rep told me I had 45 minutes to prepare. I quickly printed every article I could find about Port, because I never want to ask the same questions as someone else. My articles have to feel fresh! I was still working on my questions when the MTV rep connected us.

I felt bad for the girl, though I warned her, because I had a million questions. As soon as she was finished answering one, I blasted her with another. Part of me felt like she was thinking that I wasn't listening. I was.
